Once every three years, all women between the ages of 50 and 70 will be routinely invited for breast screening.
Not every woman will receive an appointment as soon as she is 50. You will receive your first appointment before your 53rd birthday and therefore there is no need to contact us for an appointment.
Women over the age of 70 are encouraged to continue with breast screening but must contact the screening office once every three years for an appointment.
Eligible patients registered at Chrisp Street Health Centre will receive invitation letters during August 2011 and the screening will be taking place for approximately 3 weeks at Mile End Hospital.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and is more likely as you get older.
Breast screening uses x-rays to look for breast cancers when they are too small to be seen or felt and can help prevent deaths from cancer.
Remember, if you detect any changes in your breast that are not normal for you, make an appointment to see your GP as soon as possible.
